| Widener University - Dr. Van Bramer's Spectral Archive |
| This collection of spectra of some common organic
compounds was acquired at Widener University by Dr Scott E. Van Bramer.
The data included in Spectra Online is a mix of NMR, FTIR and MS spectra downloaded from
Dr. Van Bramer's web site over a period of years; however, the vast majority is NMR
spectra. The NMR spectra were primarily collected on a GE QE-300 spectrometer. The NMR data and information posted on Dr. Van Bramer's web site were originally developed for a presentation at the 1995 National Science Foundation NMR Summer Workshop, but has now expanded to include material and data from a course on Advanced Spectroscopy taught at Widener University. The spectra posted here have been converted from the original Acorn NMR NUTS data file format into Thermo Scientific SPC files using Thermo Scientific's GRAMS/32 software. The original NUTS data files are available for download from Dr. Van Bramer's NMR data pages or from the Widener University FTP site. The available data includes both FIDs and spectra of 1H, C13, DEPT 45, DEPT 90, DEPT 135, COSY and HETCOR NMR measurements on these compounds. Only a portion of the complete data collection is reproduced in the Spectra Online database (currently just the spectra of the 1H, C13 DEPT 45, DEPT 90 and DEPT 135 measurements). Please note that the "SPC" files posted on Dr. Van Bramer's site ARE NOT Thermo Scientific SPC files, but Acorn NMR NUTS data files with SPC file extensions. The Thermo Scientific Data Viewer and other Thermo Scientific software products will not be able to directly read or display the files with SPC extensions that are posted on Dr. Van Bramer's site. The small collection of FT-IR spectra is of some commonly measured gasses and organic compounds while the MS data is of some common organic materials. This data was posted on an earlier version of Dr. Van Bramer's web site, but no longer appears to be available for download. The FTIR & MS spectra were downloaded in JCAMP DX format. Many of these compounds are student samples and may include some impurities. Dr. Van Bramer, Widener University and Thermo Scientific make no guarantees or warranties on the usefulness or correctness of the spectral data and associated information. |
