Creating a Profile

At some point during a search, if you have not yet registered with Spectra Online, we request that you fill up the Spectra Online user profile form before proceeding. All information collected as part of the Spectra Online sign up process is kept completely private by Thermo Fisher Scientific. Your information will never be sold or distributed. This information is collected solely for the purpose of making the Spectra Online web site more useful to more users and to enable us to keep in touch with you. In addition to the usual questions like your name, company name, and email, we also include a few questions that will help us determine who uses Spectra Online. There are also two "opt in" choices to receive email messages, newsletters, and other promotional material from Thermo Fisher Scientific. These will typically be about new and updated Thermo Electron Corporation products. A second page will then prompt you to submit a password. Since Spectra Online is a free service, the only time you will need to give this password is if someone other than you is logged in and you wish to login. In addition, this page asks you to provide a secret question and its answer. These will be used in the event that you forget your password and you wish to change your profile information. Before you can access your profile page, to verify your identity, you will be asked to give the answer to your secret question. For example, the secret question can be your pet's name, your mother's middle name, etc.

Logging in

Under the title bar at the top left corner of the main pages, the user name is displayed.  If the user is identified as "Unknown User," then either you are not logged in or you have not yet created a Spectra Online user profile.  To login, click on the To sign in, click here at the top right corner of the page.  On the Sign-In Page, type in the email address you provided when you created your Spectra Online user profile, and click on Submit. If the user identified in the welcome bar is not you, click on If you are not [username], click here to access the Sign-In Page.  From the Sign-In page, type in your Email, and click on Submit. To create a Spectra Online user profile, from the menu page, click on Create a New User.

Updating Your Profile

In accordance with our privacy policy, we keep minimal information about you in your user profile. This information is used only to allow us to make Spectra Online more useful to our users. This option is not available if you have not yet created your user profile or you are not logged in. At any time, you can change the information you had previously submitted.  To access the User Profile page, click on Spectra Online logo at the top left corner of the navigation frame page.  From the Main Menu page, select the Update Profile option under the Manage User Profile section.  Enter your password when prompted from the Sign-In page.

Prompting You for Your Password

Before you can access your profile information, you must type in your password, then click on Submit. Forgot your password? From the Password Prompt page, click on click here. The Forgot your Password? page prompts you for the answer to your personal secret question.   When you created your user profile, you were asked to provide a secret question and its answer.  Before you can access your profile information, to verify your identity, you must enter the answer to the secret question you submitted in your user profile.
